The Little Dipper is a cozy 1-bedroom A-Frame cabin just 20 minutes from Galena, Illinois—thoughtfully refreshed with mid-century inspired design and set in a peaceful location ideal for stargazing and quiet escapes.
Guests love the balance this home offers: a private, wooded setting that feels removed, yet close enough to Galena for dining, shopping, and exploring.
Inside, the home blends classic A-Frame architecture with a lighter, updated aesthetic. The living space includes a Smart TV for relaxing evenings, while the lofted bedroom creates a warm and intimate retreat perfect for couples.
At night, the experience becomes even more special. With minimal light pollution, the property offers beautiful dark skies for stargazing—the inspiration behind the name The Little Dipper. On clear nights, constellations are easily visible, making it a memorable part of your stay.
As a true A-Frame, the home includes sloped ceilings and lower clearance in some areas. As an older property, occasional quirks may occur, but it is well-maintained and thoughtfully cared for.

This is a true A-Frame, which means:
• Sloped walls and lower ceiling clearance in some areas
• You may need to watch your head, especially in the loft
The home also reflects the character of an older property. While we keep everything well maintained, occasional quirks can happen—this is part of the experience for guests who appreciate charm over uniformity.
Water
• Due to the rural setting, this home is on well water which may occasionally have a natural odor. The water is tested and is safe to drink. Most guests have no issue, but those sensitive may prefer bringing bottled water for drinking.
Location
• The Little Dipper is located adjacent to Highway 20, you may hear traffic during busier times but otherwise, it's a quaint and peaceful location.
Functionality
• The home is equipped with a kitchen, however, there is not a traditional stove/oven in the kitchen rather an induction cooktop (required pots/pans provided) and a combination Toaster Oven / Air Fryer.
Dog-policy: None allowed. If guests bring an unauthorized dog to the property, there will be a $500 fee imposed.
Cancellation policy: Our cancellation policy is NOT flexible, therefore we highly encourage travel insurance to protect from the unexpected. Travel Insruance can be purchased directly through Airbnb or through us.
Rental Agreement: A rental agreement is required to be signed within 48 hours of booking to secure your stay along providing a picture of your ID. The guest that books the stay is required to sign the agreement and provide the names of all guests staying, and must be present during the entirety of reservation.

Check-in after: 4 PM
Checkout before: 11 AM

Three days before your arrival, you will receive a message via Airbnb and an email with house information, directions, what to bring, and how you will receive your unique door code for your stay.
